Free by Nature

Free by Nature showcases the award-winning bush poetry and artistic practice of 16-year-old Central West NSW artist Jocelyn Cafe. Recipient of the 2026 A.B. Paterson Bush Poetry Award, Jocelyn draws inspiration from the Australian landscape, rural life and the stories of country communities.

Her installation features her winning poem, displayed in a handcrafted timber frame, alongside a collection of sculptures created from reclaimed farm metals, including a firepit, guitar and beetle. Making its public debut in Armidale, the horseshoe firepit is a highlight of the display.
